I found my digital trip had to end. I have skipped everything last week. That's what happens when you're buisy. But one more week of a total silence, what might be a bit to much. I still love to think a week about which artist to write about on mondays. So this week George Michael. For a while I have found there is some kind of taboo on liking his music. The whole gasstation-toilet thing and his coming out are not really accepted or something. Plus he's been a part of Wham!, and saying you like that music is evidence of a total lack of taste. But well, I'm just going to say this: I do like Wham!. But I'll save that for a next time.
George Michael was born in 1963 in London. He's the child of English and Greek-Cypriotic parents, hence his full name is Giorgios Kyriacos Panayiotou. He started his musical carreer in a band calle The Executive, together with his best friend Andrew Ridgeley. They've known eachtother from high school. This band didn't last for very long, but George and Andrew started Wham! after his. With Wham! Michael had a few hit singles, the first one in 1981. But after a few solo hits from Michael in 1986 they did split and George Michael continued as a solo artist.
Somewhere this onth his newest album White Light has been released. Not that this release was reason for me to dedicate his Musical Monday to George Michael. I thought I'd do that because during some Tv show I heard Jesus to a child and thought to myself once again: George Michael's music actually really is beautiful. And so I'd like to share this beautiful song. Against my style a very slow song.
